Lawrence Data Management History
In 1975, Weldon T. Lawrence, Jr. on a business trip to
California, happened to visit with fellow United Van Lines agents
while he was in their area. It was during this time that Mr
Lawrence discovered something that would change the way people
did business here in S.W.Virginia for years to come. United Van
Lines agents in that area had begun to store large volumes of
records for area businesses that were trying to improve security
and find alternatives to the high cost of real estate. With the
service these agents were providing their customers, they no
longer had the worry of losing valuable information to fire or
theft, and expensive office floor space was not being used for
warehousing records. With a vision for expanding his rapidly
growing business back home, Weldon Lawrence returned to Roanoke,
Va. and became the areas first provider of off-site records
storage. In 1985, with an ever expanding business and an
increased vision for off-site storage, he opened Lawrence Data
Management with the Valleys first commercial Halon
protected vault to store another new concept in the business
community, backup computer tapes. Soon Lawrence Data Management
would expand through the companys other branch locations in
the North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Today, Lawrence Transportation Systems has grown into a
multi-diversital family / employee owned company with sales in
excess of $33,000,000 and Dun & Bradstreet rating of 3A1.
Since its founding in 1932 by Weldon T. Lawrence Sr., weve
continued to grow through hard work, customer satisfaction and a
vision for the future. We call it "The Lawrence Way"
and we look forward for the opportunity to serve you and all of
your off-site storage and document destruction needs.
